Fall 2010 Adventures

The Science Factory’s educational programs offer children the chance to experience hands-on learning, creative problem solving and discovery in a stimulating and fun environment. Sign up for one or many. Complete the registration form and mail or fax to our offices.

First Friday of the month (except for June)
9 AM – 12 Noon
Ages 5 and under only

(Now from 9 am - noon! Come early and beat the crowds.)

A casual “drop-in” program just for you and your preschooler to discover science together! The first Friday of the month, we set up activities and interactive learning stations designed to create an experience between you and your child that will ignite your child’s curiosity and interest in science. First Friday Discovery Days are where our youngest visitors can enjoy Science Factory activities “big-kid-free!”

Limited to children ages 5 and under only who are accompanied by parent or guardian. Siblings who are not the appropriate age for these activities will not be allowed into the activity areas at this time. A named member musst be present to receive membership benefits, and non-member adult guests will pay regular fees.

Members: FREE!
Non-members: $10 per parent/child combo.
Additional children $2 each.

Bubble Bash
Friday, September 3

Bubbles, bubbles, and more bubbles! We'll learn why bubbles form circles, and make magic square bubbles and cloud bubbles from dry ice. We will also create amazing bubble-inspired art pieces. If the weather is fine we will make our very own bubble solution and make lots of bubbles outside in the sun. Come join us for a day of bubble fun.

Super Seasons
Friday, October 1

Why do we have different seasons? This tot day will be about exploring what is fun and unique in each season: fall, winter, spring and summer. There will be seasonal art activities and experiments focusing on snow, rain and sunshine. Come discover the four seasons with us on this fall day.

Planes, Trains, Cars and Cranes
Friday, November 5

On this day we will play with planes, trains, cars and cranes. We'll make airplanes and trains, paint using cars, and use a magnetic pulley system. We'll also enjoy a terrific train set. Come join us to explore things that go.

Music Mania
Friday, December 3

Sounds are all around us, from bird song to music. Join us to explore sound through music and interactive experiments. Have fuun making musical instruments from recycled materials, and learn all about how we hear and process information. Come and be part of our music-making party.

YES! YEA! Days

YES! YEA! No School Day Camps are a great option for kids on No School Days

Who: Grades 1-5

When: On no-school days from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (Drop-off from 8:30 - 9:00 am)

Cost: $70 for the complete two-day program or $35 for one YES!YEA! Day for Science Factory or YWA members; $80 for the complete two-day program or $40 for one YES!YEA! Day for non-members.

We call them YES! YEA! Days because these one-day camps are “Young Escapades in Science” (YES!) and “Young Escapades in the Arts” (YEA!). Held on several “no school”
days throughout the year, these funpacked days are developed in collaboration with Young
Writers Association (YWA) and hosted by the Science Factory. Kids can engage their artistic and scientific sides while exploring stories and scientific hands-on activities. Curiosity and imagination rule on YES! YEA! Days! For 1st - 5th graders.

2 Day Program:
Thursday and Friday, November 11 and 12
Registration Deadline: Tuesday, November 9

Myths, masks, Olympian powers! Make lightning, Olympian tales, plaster masks, staged battle scenes and more as you delve into the possibilities and impossibilities inspired by the Lightning Thief.

Educational Programs Information

Class size: Classes are limited. Register early.

Payment: Fees are due prior to the start of the program series. Your spot will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.

Cancellation Policy: If a student cancels at least 3 days prior to the start of the program, a $5 cancellation fee will be applied. Once the program starts, no fees can be refunded. We make every effort to ensure that programs are filled and scheduled as described. If we must cancel a program, we will notify you by phone prior to the program and you will receive a full refund of program fees within 30 days of the program cancellation.
