The Science Factory, in assocation with MUSE (Museums of Springfield and Eugene), is offering free admission to the exhibit hall to all visitors in celebration of Smithsonian Magazine's 6th annual National Museum Day. Free admission to the Exploration Dome is made possible through the Dome's partnering sponsor: Eugene Active 20-30 Club & Foundation. Teacher In-Service Day: Avoiding Science Anxiety: Teaching Science without a Science Background

Teacher program/$12 per participant/Pre-registration required.
Science is a major part of the school curriculum, yet many elementary school teachers may not feel comfortable teaching it because they do not think they have the proper background. Yet not knowing the answers is how scientists make discoveries. We present somem easy-to-implement science classroom activities and show a variety of science education resources for teaching science across the curriculum. The workshop includes a tour of the current exhibition and a planetarium show. Refreshments are provided. Register by calling 541-682-7888 or email info@sciencefactory.org

Astronomy Day

All Ages/Drop-in/Free with admission. Regular fees apply to Dome shows.
Enjoy a fun-filled Saturday exploring astronomy at the Science Factory! Find out more about our solar system and the outer reaches of space in our exhibit hall, and participate in hands-on astronomy-related activities. Weather permitting, you will be invited to safely view the Sun through a telescope. At 11 am and 1 pm, come to our special live interactive planetarium show featuring Rick Kang of Pine Mountain Observatory and Planetarium Director Sue Peterson in the Dome. At 3 pm, Eugene native Quentin Holmes, Ph.D. will speak about his role as a former NASA special advisor to Mission Control during the Project Apollo Lunar Missions as part of his presentation "The Moon &l Beyond: Mankind Explores the Solar System."

Mad Scientists' Halloween Extravaganza

All ages/$10 for members/$15 for non-members
Put on your costume and join us again for some hauntingly mad Halloween fun! Explore spooky science demonstrations and eerie experiments in our Mad Scientist's lab. Try to win prizes in our horrifying Halloween Carnival. And no Halloween can be complete without seeing how far you can fling a pumpkin using our trebuchet!
Note: The Science Factory will be closed from 1 pm - 5 pm to prepare for this event.

Bird of Prey Day

All Ages/Drop-in/Free with admission.
Educators from the Cascades Raptor Center will be visiting the Science Factory with some of their fine feathered friends. You will be able to see live raptors up close, such as hawks, owls and vultures, ask questions, and also check out some talons, feathers and owl pellets.
