Summer Science Smorgasbord
See hands-on science exhibits from our collection. You can explore light and optics and mix your own reflection with that of another person, using our new "Everyone is You and Me" display, or learn about air flow with Bernoulli blowers and an Air Cannon, or try your own designs on our Air Table. Take our light logic quiz and learn how to flex your power, or view digitized sound in the Sound-O-Rama...

Laballotory
A highly interactive, colorful exhibit that provides plenty of action and education by exploring the physics behind simple machines and motions. Witness how long a ball will remain levitated by the fascinating powers of Bernoulli's principle, race different shaped cars on a racetrack, and drop golf balls through the "Kinetica" maze. LaBallotory is on loan to the Science Factory from A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village in Salem, Oregon.

The Tot Spot
Please note: July 12-16 and Aug. 2-6, the Tot Spot will open to the public at NOON rather than 10 AM, due to summer camp programs.
Children 5 and under will have a ball in this exhibit area designated just for them. Toddlers can engage in a variety of hands-on fun in an exploratory space that is big-kid free!
Generously sponsored by SELCO Community Credit Union and the Woodard Family Foundation
TOTAL TOT SPOT TRANSFORMATION
Your favorite Tot Spot has undergone an ocean-themed make over! On March 5, the updated Tot Spot became “Discovery Cove,” an immersive ocean and shoreline play zone. Visiting toddlers can climb into a boat play structure, touch a starfish in a make-believe tide pool touch tank, or act out stories with ocean animal puppet characters. Tots may also enjoy getting active in the ball pit “shallows” – or, they can watch ocean animals in action displayed on the new flat screen TV. The Tot Spot ocean environment is finished with commissioned illustrative collages designed by artist Alice Feagan to stimulate the imaginations of all age groups.
While some of the pieces in the new Tot Spot came from an exhibit collection acquired from Alaska’s Imaginarium, the new and improved Tot Spot was made possible by a generous gift from the Emerging Generation trustees of the Woodard Family Foundation. We would like to thank the Woodard Family Foundation and Alaska’s Imaginarium for helping us produce this exciting new ocean adventure for tots and families at the Science Factory, and SELCO Community Credit Union for their ongoing support of the Tot Spot and Tot Discovery Day program.
